Issues
State
government,
through
its policies and budget, must make it a priority to address the needs of the
poorest and most vulnerable persons in California. We are working to
end poverty in our great state by focusing on the following
issues:
-
Hunger: Everyone
should have adequate
food and water to nourish their bodies
-
Health: Everyone
should have access to equitable and affordable health care
-
Income: Everyone
should have the
opportunity to adequately provide for themselves and their families
-
Housing: Everyone
should have a safe, decent, and affordable place to live
-
Education: Everyone should have access to quality education
To fight
poverty more effectively and efficiently at the State
Capitol, Catholic Charities of California launched
Step Up
California, Campaign to Cut Poverty in September of
2009. This coalition of organizations is working
together to educate Members and their staff about poverty
and self sufficiency.
